About

Poco. Yeah, he's that cool.
Well hello there! I see you've come to learn a little more about the crazy lady with the scatterbrained blog. That would be me!

My name's Candi, I live in Colorado Springs with my fiance Aaron and our awesome little dog, Poco Loco. I grew up right outside of St. Louis, in the same bland, boring, wasted county for 20 years of my life. When I say wasted, I mean that the towns are so bland and boring that you have to get wasted to have any sort of excitement.

Building a bar means one thing,
and one thing only... Pirate Party!!
See what I mean with the drunkenness? We are both over 2 years sober now. It was fun while it lasted, but our bodies were not happy with the abuse!

There's a saying we have about Missouri: It's where people go when they give up on their dreams and aspirations. So, in February 2013 we said "No!" to giving up! We didn't want to be those people to get lost in a perpetual state of misery. Literally. We took a huge risk and packed everything we owned in the minivan, and drove ourselves here to beautiful Colorado Springs! I'll have to tell the story about our road trip here one time... It was epic. A 14-hour road trip turned into a 3-day blizzard that stranded us in Hays, Kansas with 18 inches of snow. Yeah.

So we finally are here, and it's time to make our dreams reality!

The long-term plan is to have our own property, fully self-sustainable, ideally somewhere around 5 acres. We have big, BIG plans... I've been keeping an ongoing Pinterest board of ideas for the property and sustainable living, and another board for gardening ideas. Both of us realize that this is going to take a lot of hard work, dedication, and time. That's okay, because when you want something enough, NOTHING can stop you!

Okay, except for maybe money. Ahhh, the big global scam... Anyways, you have to have money to get certain things in this world. Our dream requires a lot of it. Also, my brain has a lot of ideas. So.... I decided to turn my ideas into money!

How KarmiCandiCreations began.....

I quit smoking in December 2013 and joined the vape revolution. A few co-workers had these strange contraptions, I tried one and was blown away by the flavor burst that just happened in my mouth. After that sample, every cigarette I smoked was nothing but a disappointment. I yearned for the delicious berry flavor, reminiscent of hookah tobacco. Eventually I got my vaporizer, and I haven't touched a cigarette since.

First ever Vape Sleeve
Since I was carrying this thing around with me everywhere, I was also dropping it a LOT. One night my tank finally busted, and I had about 20 minutes to get to the vape shop before they closed (the shop was 15 minutes away!), so I decided to solve that problem so it never happened again.

Then, KarmiCandiCreations was born....

For some reason I'm pretty good at crochet, so I started making these little sleeves for the tank of the e-cig. It fit around the glass part like a little tubular sweater cushion, protecting the tank from falls, dings, and daily abuse. This was AWESOME - my tank has been dropped many times since but hasn't broken - however, it didn't solve my problem. I was still dropping the thing!

So I made a whole sleeve and lanyard in one piece, and they look pretty snazzy! The coolest part about my vape sleeve lanyards is that you can convert them to wristlets, in case you want it near your hand instead. Apparently other people liked the idea too, because these actually started selling!

My favorite sleeve. This is the one I use most of the time. 100% hemp!
If you're an artist, you might understand the following statement. All of this creativity and thought-provoking led to even more creativity and brainstorming and ideas, like a flood of possibilities and there is no way of getting it all down before 90% of it dissipates, back into the depths of your mind until it gets conjured up again by some miracle of the creative universe. Yes I know that was a major run-on sentence, it was intentional. For a dramatic effect.

What this means: I'm doing other things than just crochet. Lately I've gotten out the sewing machine and started messing around with that again. So if you're interested, keep an eye out for some sewn goodies. I'm currently working on a neat little patchwork style Colorado flag wall hanging, and I think I've found my sewing style!

I'm not sure if it's apparent yet, but I have way waaaaayyyy too much going on in my head to keep it all in. That's the just of what I do and what I'm about. I could go on, but it's almost 1AM and I'm sure you're just as sick of reading as I am of typing!

Thank you for your interest in me and what I do. Please be sure to follow this blog, and visit my Etsy shop!

Hello! I'm Candi. I love to crochet, and I enjoy other fiber arts such as knitting, sewing, and macrame. But mostly, I just enjoy making things. Check out my shop to see for yourself! KarmiCandiCreations on Etsy
